Horus Hobbies is built on the belief that true community is created through shared interests. As a military household, we found a strong sense of belonging during our time in the Marine Corps. The transition out of active duty was a complete shock. We no longer had those weekend game nights, random miniature painting days, or just random opportunities to break bread with fellow service members. For years after coming back, we searched for that same connection we once had on base but could not find it, so we decided to build it ourselves.

Our mission is to bring veterans, active duty service members, reservists, and civilians together through tabletop gaming and shared hobbies. Not everyone wants to meet people in a bar. Some of us connect better around a game table, rolling dice, building worlds, and telling stories. 

Growing up, I remember hearing stories of old downtown as we drove through the city. Getting stories with every building and every empty dirt plot that once was used for games or adventures for our ancestors. Las Vegas became home to my family in 1942 now being in Downtown Las Vegas has brought back a piece of what we missed about active duty life while being able to honor my family and the area they loved. We are grateful to share that sense of belonging with others and we hope to extend that same connection throughout the rest of the Las Vegas valley, because hobbies are for everyone. Whether you are stopping by for paint, conversation, or to say hi to our cat Horus, you’re always welcome at our gaming table.
